Mike Tan – Principal (BSc, MSc, CEng, FCIHT, FInstLM)
Our principal tutor is highly qualified with over thirty five years of experience working as client manager and consultant in the public and private sectors. He has vast experience in engineering, leadership and management, contract supervision, designing and delivering training courses . An all-round trainer in personal development, leadership and management, and language. A fellow member of both the Institute of Leadership and Management (ilm) and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation. Mike was a director for two international consultant managing large-scale and high-profile projects in UK and abroad. He is PRINCE2 trained, and a qualified Master trainer in ‘iMindMap’. He was an Associate Lecturer at the former Glamorgan University. Attained ‘Prepare to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector’ (PTTLLS) qualification. Mike has experience in managing Erasmus+ projects with excellent skills in bid writing for KA1 (mobility project) and KA2 (capacity building project).
Jane Tan – Coach & Mentor
Jane has worked for the Local Government for over 21 years. Her main area of work has been in Education within the Special Educational Needs Department. Jane’s role was writing Statements of Special Educational Needs (SEN) for pupils who had gone through the Statutory Assessment Process. When a child had been identified with additional learning needs they would undergo a series of appointments with professionals such as; school staff, specialist teachers, educational psychologists, doctors and other medical professionals such as speech therapist, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. The professionals involved with child would produce a report this report would clarify the pupils needs and identify what support the child will need to access education. The professionals reports would the child’s Statement of SEN. the Statement would provide the correct level of support that the child would need to access education in school.
Dr Glen Paterson (DSc, PhD, FCIPD) – Personal Development Tutor
Glen is our lead tutor for delivering Leadership and Management (ilm) programmes for SME clients. He specialises in promoting the ethos of empowering others to become the “next greatest version of themselves”. A mentor, performance coach and counsellor with over twenty years’ experience of working with national and blue-chip companies. He enhances the understanding of team and management problems and has excellent skills in helping youngsters and people with fewer opportunities. He is qualified and licensed to administer Ken Blanchard LBAII, Belbin Team Roles, Lifo & MBTI Psychometric Testing suites.
Lyndsey Evans (BA, PGCE) – English Tutor
Lyndsey is a dedicated qualified teacher who has a vast experience of working in customer services prior to becoming a qualified teacher. As well as English tuition Lyndsey also provides valuable support in preparing for an interview and techniques to use when in an interview. Lyndsey also provides support to help individuals on their professional development and is passionate in helping learners to achieve their full potential. Lyndsey has a BA (hons) in Religious Studies and her personal interests are of cultural heritage; Lyndsey uses this to provide a unique training of cultural traditions for those wishing to know more about the land of the language!
Jacqueline Toong – Mandarin Tutor
Our tutor and Chinese linguistic translator has many personal qualities. She is confident, hard working, committed, and an optimistic person, enjoy working in an energetic environment. An excellent team player. She has worked in a well-known linguistic United State company based in Malaysia. Her experience whilst working for the World Book International company gave her experiences in dealing with marketing strategies, operational services and management skills. A team leader, focussing on sales forecasts and maintaining sales target. Jacqueline has experience working for the Park Plaza Hotel, in Cardiff, UK and in management. During this time, she has developed and understood customer care, hospitality and offered her expertise in various linguistic skills, mainly: Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien and the Malay language.
Giovanni (John) Dell’Armi FCIPD – Italian Tutor
John was born to an Italian parents in the UK, and was able to speak Italian as my mother tongue. His interest in Italy and the vast number of relatives he has living in Italy has enabled me to keep my Italian skills alive even after completing my education at English speaking schools in the UK. He believe that learning a language should be fun and is all about confidence. He genuinely believe it is better that students attempt to speak, even if what they say is not a 100% correct because imperfections can be ironed out in due course. His approach is very practical and will help students feel confident in conversing in everyday Italian.
Peter Wyn-Brady (BA (Hons), CELTA)
A qualified, dedicated and resourceful Essential Skills and ESOL qualified English Teacher. He strive to help students to reach their maximum potential. He is an exceptional communicator with both students and colleagues, having an empathetic, supportive and diplomatic disposition. Together with his experience in advice work, teaching and counselling, he is committed to creating a positive learning environment. He is a self-motivated and reliable educator looking for a challenging role that will complement and enhance both personal and leadership skills.
Veronique Brosse (BSc, MSc)
Veronique has a master degree in language and a specialist in teaching English for foreign student. She has worked with colleges in France and training academy in Wales. Veronique is specialised in working with students seeking employment and people with fewer opportunity. She has a vast experience working with the food/catering and teaching English to foreign students. A French native speaker and able to communicate in German and Spanish.
Jim Cooney BEng (Hons), MSc, PGCE, CELTA
Jim is our lead English tutor is highly qualified with over ten years experience of teaching in various fields, in the public and private sector. He has a vast experience of teaching all age groups in the disciplines of English and Technology. He also has ten years experience prior in the Engineering sector and associate membership of the Institute of In-cooperated Engineers (IIE).
Jim also has extensive experience of preparing students for their exams including IELTS, PTE, FCE, GCSE and City and Guilds. He has also prepared students for work placements in the UK and supplied them with internships and prepared students for General Medical Council recognition and University placements. He is currently also learning French to intermediate level.
